位於鼓山區內惟埤文化園區內的高雄市立美術館是全台第三座公立美術館，於83年(1994) 6月正式啟用，戶外雕塑公園矗立著不同風格的雕塑品，館內蒐羅本土重要美術品，定期舉辦國際性藝術展覽，規劃市民藝廊與創作論壇，讓市民融入美學世界；館外的廣場與露天咖啡座提供民眾悠閒休憩的自然空間，並專為兒童設計了「兒童創意美術館」與「兒童藝術花園」，是一個兼具藝術、文化、創意、生態、教育的綜合性休閒園區。
